Gerry Daniel honored at the URJ Biennial

This past week at the URJ Biennial in Orlando, Gerry Daniel was honored for his contributions and commitment to progressive Judaism by URJ President Rabbi Rick Jacobs, at a dinner for the North American Board of the URJ. Gerry was accompanied on stage by his daughter, Miriam Daniel, who is also a dedicated supporter of the Daniel Centers for Progressive Judaism.

Gerry Daniel and his late wife Ruth Daniel, zichrona livracha, are the founders of the Daniel Centers for Progressive Judaism. Their foresight in understanding Tel Aviv’s potential as a hub for progressive and inclusive Judaism in Israel, and subsequent dedication to establishing egalitarian centers and programs is truly a blessing. Almost 25 years after the establishment of Beit Daniel, it is heartwarming to see Gerry’s commitment recognized and honored at an event that brings together thousands of leaders and supporters of the Reform Movement. Recognition of Gerry’s initiative and dedication to progressive and inclusive Judaism is now more important than ever. We encourage you to take a moment and watch this short clip of Gerry being honored just a few days ago.
