What is MITF?
Masa Israel Teaching Fellows is a 10-month fellowship for Jewish college graduates ages 21-35, who want to contribute to the future success of Israeli children and make a real difference. Fellows teach English while immersing themselves in Israeli society and becoming an integral member of the city where they live, teach and volunteer.
MITF is a partnership between Masa Israel Journey and the Ministry of Education. Masa Israel offers a uniquely transformative experience; we believe that Israel is the perfect platform for young adults who are eager to explore, experience, and develop skills for a lifetime of achievement.
And thanks to Masa and Ministry of Education subsidies, the entire program costs only $1,000 and includes housing, flight reimbursement, a monthly stipend, and more!
MITF Tel Aviv + Nazareth – Reform Jewish Leadership Track (Partnership between the Daniel Centers & Bina)
MITF Tel Aviv+Nazareth, fellows spend five months living and teaching in Tel Aviv, and the other five months in Nazareth working in schools in Israel’s Arab community. In this dual-city track, fellows experience unique and different Israeli lifestyles, while helping to create educational opportunities from children in Israel’s disadvantaged populations.
On the Reform Leadership Track, fellows will be part of a vibrant Reform Jewish community with the Daniel Centers for Progressive Judaism in Tel Aviv, and enjoy additional content with leaders from the Israeli and North American Reform movements in Tel Aviv and in the Galilee. This content will be focused on giving the fellows the skills and tools needed to be active members in leadership in their Reform Jewish communities upon completing the program. Fellows will also celebrate holidays and Shabbatot in the Israeli Reform community, as well as with host families from those communities.
About Nazareth
As the largest Arab city in Israel, Nazareth has a deep history dating back thousands of years. Today, it is a vibrant center of Arab-Israeli life as well as a window into the authentic Middle Eastern spirit. As a Masa Israel Teaching Fellow in Nazareth, you’ll have the opportunity to explore this vibrant city and its rich history, while serving its population of Arab citizens of Israel. During this portion of the program, Fellows also take part in Arabic language classes and learning sessions on Arab culture and society in Israel.
