Pride Shabbat at Beit Daniel

With Rabbi Meir Azari, Rabbi Galia Sadan, and Cantor Freddy Faur

Prayers to the theme of “Colors of the Rainbow”

The evening will include a festive drasha, songs, and a celebration honoring children born to LGBT parents during the past year. During the evening, we will reveal a new parochet (curtain covering the ark) that was made especially for Pride Month by Havatzelet Ramanti. Ramanti, a fourth year student at Shenkar studying textile design, is devoting her final project to testing the strength of textile design in relation to tolerance of those who are different, focusing on the tensions between the religious community and the LGBT community.

This project came about as a result of the terrible murder of Shira Banki that took place last summer, and the need to create a space of giving, recognition and support in the community. Because her project is in reference to the religious LGBT community, Ramati decided to create a parochet for the ark to recognize victims of homophobia.

During the service, there will also be a children’s service focusing on “the colors of the rainbow.”
