Jaffa Nights

From delicious food and live performances to late night art galleries and entertaining Kabbalat Shabbats, summer nights in Jaffa are all but boring!

Being one of Jaffa’s most attractive landmarks, the Abulafia bakery definitely cannot be missed. Straight from the oven, this bakery sells traditional Arabic and Middle Eastern delicacies ranging from pita styled pizzas to stuffed delicious bread. Abulafia is also very well known for establishing a very strong message through their employee’s uniform. Their uniforms state “Jews and Arabs Refuse to be Enemies” which is a very warm and inspiring sight to see.

On Tuesdays nights, the Jaffa flee market compound becomes a stage for various performances. Along with shops that are open late, various interesting art galleries are also open to the public.

What better place to have Kabbalat Shabbat on a late Friday afternoon than the Port of Jaffa? Since the start of June, the Daniel Centers for Progressive Judaism have been hosting Kabbalat Shabbats in Jaffa that are more than just typical. From 16:00 till 18:00 there are a wide range of activities for children and directly afterwards a musical Kabbalat Shabbat. Even though these magical nights have an expiration date, you are always invited to join our congregation for weekly Kabbalot Shabbat at the Mishkenot Ruth Daniel Culture Center located just minutes away by foot from the port.  Mishkenot Ruth Daniel Culture Center is not only a guest house but a thriving and welcoming congregation as well.

Port of Jaffa Kabbalot Shabbat dates:

7/31/15 – Marking Tu B’av

8/14/15

8/28/15 – Celebrating the end of summer
