Thanksgiving at Beit Daniel
This past Friday, Beit Daniel came alive with the warmth of gratitude and connection as we hosted our first event for English-speaking Young Adults. The evening marked the launch of our new initiative to bring young adult olim (immigrants) together, creating a vibrant community that blends the beauty of Jewish tradition with the unique journey of making Israel home. This type of community is so needed for these olim, as they face the dichotomy of secular versus orthodox Judaism in Israel. We want to help support these olim in their journey to move to Israel and help them see that Reform Judaism is alive and thriving in Israel as well.
We began the evening with a spirited Kabbalat Shabbat service. Together with the greater Beit Daniel community, we joined in song and prayer, setting the tone for an inspiring night. From there, we moved to the Thanksgiving dinner where we shared in a potluck feast full of delicious, homemade Thanksgiving food! Between bites, we shared stories and got to know each other as we formed new connections.
The evening wasn’t just about food; it was also about forging new connections. Fun activities encouraged everyone to get to know each other—breaking the ice and building bridges across diverse backgrounds. By the end of the night, it was clear that this was more than just a Thanksgiving dinner. It was the beginning of something bigger: a community where young adults can find support, inspiration, and a deeper connection to Reform Judaism and to each other.
At Beit Daniel, we believe that bringing people together—especially during times of transition and change—is one of the greatest mitzvot. This initiative is rooted in the values of inclusion, unity, and the shared experience of building a Jewish future in Israel.
