Shonim Beyahad<\/a> is an artistic educational project striving to teach the values of equality, tolerance, and accepting the “other” in Israeli elementary schools. The initiative is led in Israel by the Daniel Centers for Progressive Judaism, in cooperation with a number of schools both in the Tel Aviv-Jaffa area and beyond. We are proud that today we partner with nearly 25 schools on this project, representing nearly every sector of Israeli society.<\/p>\nCentral to the project is an exhibition of the art work which was created by students on the basis of the values taught in class. Of the hundreds of works submitted, our panel of judges, comprised of experts in the arts and education, chose thirty-five works of art, which are enlarged to 10 square-meter posters then exhibited outdoors in the Port of Jaffa. The municipality of Tel Aviv-Jaffa and the office of the mayor are partners of this project and support its goals.<\/p>\n
Shonim is now in its eleventh year.<\/p>\n
School & Shul\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
School and Shul <\/i>is one of out longest operating programs. For over 20 years, The Daniel Centers has provided students meaningful opportunities to celebrate holidays at our synagogues which are designed to introduce pluralistic Judaic content to secular public schools. In the past few years thousands of students from the greater Tel Aviv-Jaffa area have taken part in a variety of School & Shul<\/em> programs. For many, it is the first time setting foot in a synagogue. About 5,000 children from K-12 participate over the course of a school year.<\/p>\nJewish Soul Overhaul\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
Jewish<\/em> Soul<\/em> Overhaul<\/em> is a program designed to create a profound change in the schools in which it is implemented and bring Jewish values and tradition into the classroom and beyond.
