Lee Perlman

Chair, Board of the Daniel Centers for Progressive Judaism and the Beit Daniel Synagogue.

Lee has a passion for building community, and a deep belief in the Centers’ ability to create a more just Israeli society.  He co-founded Bet Daniel’s “Kesher Cham” supportive community program. Lee is a member of the steering committee of IRAC: The Israel Religious Action Center of the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism. Lee has served as Executive Director, The America-Israel Cultural Foundation and held senior positions at The Jewish Federations of North America and The Abraham Initiatives and currently at The Israel Center for Educational Innovation  

Lee is a fellow of the Ethics Center, Brandeis University and a research fellow at the Tami Steinmetz Center for Peace Research, Tel Aviv University, which published his book on Arab-Jewish cooperation in the Israeli Theatre,  “But Abu Ibrahim, We’re Family!” . Lee received his Ph.D. and M.A. from Tel Aviv University. since 1982, when he settled on Kibbutz Harel, and in Tel Aviv since 1989. His wife Dr. Edna Barromi Perlman, is an active member of Beit Daniel.
