David Gilat – Chairman of the Board of the Daniel Centers for Progressive Judaism
David is also a Chairman of the Beit Daniel Community and a Board member of the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism. .
David is a lawyer and patent attorney by profession. He is a senior partner in the Reinhold Cohen Group for Intellectual Property; Lecturer in the Faculty of Law of Tel Aviv University and the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya; He holds a degree in chemistry from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a law degree from Tel Aviv University.
David has a long-standing connection with the Reform Movement, which began when he ascended to the Torah at a bar mitzvah ceremony held at the Beit Daniel Synagogue in Tel Aviv, led by the late Rabbi Moshe Zemer, who also officiated at his and his wife Daphne’s wedding ceremony. They have since been long standing members and their children both held their bar mitzvah ceremonies at Beit Daniel.
In 1974, his family contributed to the establishment of a library in the synagogue, which is named after his brother, the late Dan Gilat, who fell in the Yom Kippur War, and in 2016 a Torah scroll was brought into the synagogue in his memory.
