Preschools - Background, history and mission
Since its foundation, in 1998, the Beit Daniel’s preschool network has developed a successful and steadily growing system in Tel Aviv-Jaffa. The network is comprised of mainstream public preschools that are Reform affiliated and receive extra Judaic content provided by the Daniel Centers´ education department. Today, there are 14 active preschools
(500 family units) in Tel Aviv.
The education department has a rabbinic coordinator in charge of the Judaic content within the preschools. The Judaic content exposes children and families to the Hebrew calendar and its meaningful dates, the role of Shabbat, Havdallah, Rosh Chodesh, Shacharit and the Jewish holidays.
The educational programs strive to reach a delicate balance between our Jewish cultural and religious heritage and the modern world we live in today, therefore the preschool network works to promote and develop a progressive Judaic education option for secular families in Tel Aviv, embracing values of pluralism and equality, while highlighting the humanistic elements in our Jewish and Israeli heritages and history and further encouraging cultural and social sensitivity and acceptance.
Beit Daniel’s preschool staff has won numerous awards and recognition of excellence from the Tel Aviv Municipality and the Rothschild Foundation among others.
